Infant gets fresh lease of life

Kolkata: A 27-day-old female infant was taken to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) with bilateral choanal atresia. The baby whose parents are originally from Kultali in South 24-Parganas was born in Patna.

Tracheostomy was done in a hospital in Patna. However, it required to open the blockade and reconstruction so that the internal nasal passage becomes clear. The operation was carried out by prof Dr Saumendra Nath Bandyopadhyay, Dr Diptanshu Mukherjee, Dr Tushar Chakraborty and
