Inadequate info in portal form hinders issuance of birth certificates
Kolkata: Various hospitals across the state and the medical colleges are facing difficulties while issuing birth certificates as the portal that maintains the record lacks some basic information.
As a result, the task of filling up the form which is supposed to contain all the information relating to the new born children and their family members in the portal, becomes difficult for the hospital staff members as the system lacks some basic information.
A senior official in the record section of a government run medical college in the city said the form uploaded in the portal is inadequate
as it lacks some basic information.
The official said that there are separate columns in the form for mentioning the names of various villages and sub-divisions but the information does not appear when the particular option is clicked.
As a result, the hospital staff members are facing a great deal of inconvenience while issuing the birth certificate.
The whole process also gets delayed due to inadequate information.
Following the state health department's instruction, all the government hospitals both the district and the sub-divisional level have started issuing the birth certificates for the infants. The process was started many days ago, but the system is not full proof and it should be updated, the official said.
It may be mentioned here that a government agency was initially assigned to carry out the job of issuing birth
certificates on behalf of some hospitals but later on some youths were engaged to look after it.
It may be mentioned that there is also a delay in the issuance of the certificates in
the hospitals due to 'faulty' system.
"The portal has been operational for sometimes now but the important information has not been uploaded yet. It is causing difficulties for the staff members to fill up the forms and also in the issuance of birth certificates. The matter was also brought to the notice of the health department officials," a senior official of the record section in a medical college in the city said.
