In two separate incidents: Woman hit by stone in running train; 1 held for robbery

Kolkata: Shilpi Mondal, a resident of Guma in North 24-Parganas boarded Up-Bongaon local from Madhyamgram while returning home from work on Friday evening.

She was standing near the door. After the train left Barasat station and was passing through carshed area, someone from the outside threw a stone at the train hitting the woman's left leg. The woman, whoes leg was profusely bleeding, with the help of some other passengers got off the train at Habra station. She was taken to the Habra State General Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, one person has been arrested on charges of stealing cash, silver and gold from a house in Tangra on Friday. According to sources, the incident came to light when the woman named Mun Mun Rana registered lodged a police complaint. The robbery took place when no one was in her home on Friday. Rs 10,000 cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 80,000 were stolen. According to the police, the accused have been identified as Akash Ghosh. He was arrested at around 9. 30 pm from Tangra on Friday. Five nose knots, an earring, eight silver chains, two bracelets, two silver coins and two silver rings were recovered from Ghosh's home.
