IDA to observe 'Oral Hygiene Day' today

West Bengal Chapter of the Indian Dental Association (IDA) will observe "Oral Hygiene Day" on Tuesday through various programmes.
Oral Hygiene Day is observed every year by the Indian Society of Periodontology and various other institutions to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr G B Shankwalkar, a stalwart of Indian periodontics who was born on August 1.
The main motto of the programme is to make people aware about oral hygiene and also to stress the importance in preventing related diseases. Oral hygiene is a serious issue on which the IDA is conducting campaigns from time to time.
The state chapter of the IDA also organises various programmes every year to mark the occasion.
Like previous years, the IDA will perform several programmes to spread dental education among the people in general, holding community dental health camps, organising rallies, putting up posters and banners to spread awareness.
The IDA, Bengal chapter also takes a pledge to involve all IDA local branches to observe "Oral Hygiene Day" by setting up kiosks,
tableaus, posters, leaflets on August 1.
The IDA has also taken up a comprehensive
programme called 'Continuing Dental Education' to disseminate knowledge among the masses.
A seminar will be held on Tuesday at the Dr R Ahmed Dental College and Hospital auditorium where renowned dentists and experts in the field will discuss on "Considerations of Oral Hygiene for the General Dental Practitioners" in which Dr T K Pal and Dr Abhay Kolte are expected to take part.
