Human trafficking: Police launch awareness campaign

Kolkata: Biman Banerjee, Speaker of West Bengal Legislative Assembly has inaugurated an online 'Puja parikram' application and a guide map of Baruipur police district on Tuesday.

On Tuesday an awareness campaign to prevent human trafficking was launched by the Baruipur police district in association with an NGO styled as International Justice Mission, Kolkata.

As a part of the initiative, a caravan vehicle was flagged off by the Superintendent of Police Kamanasish Sen and other senior police officials.

According to sources, it has been seen that number of human trafficking case increase after the festive season is over.

To ensure that such incidents do not occur, the awareness campaign was arranged.

The vehicle will be strategically placed at important junctions where more crowds are expected to gather.

It will also distribute sweets to the children giving them a friendly idea that police can be approached anytime for

anything suspicious that requires immediate action.

The caravan will patrol for 15 days during the peak Puja season.
