As many as 8,16,243 candidates will take part in the examination, which will continue till March 13. Interestingly, the number of female candidates appearing for the examination is higher than their male counterparts by 63,413.

There will be around 713 examination centres across the state, while the number of venue remains at 2,117. According to the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), there will be a deployment of two council nominees at each main venue.

It may be mentioned here that the Class XI examination on new syllabus will also be conducted simultaneously during the same period. The WBCHSE has made all the necessary arrangements to conduct the process of examination in a smoother way.

The council has issued some strict guidelines in order to check cheating in the examination. Even the registration of a candidate can be cancelled if he/she is found entering the examination hall with a mobile phone.

Taking cue from the Madhyamik examination in which the photos of the question papers were allegedly circulated on WhatsApp, the WBCHSE has taken up adequate security measures to prevent such incidents.

A senior official of the council had said that there will be a computer generated number on each packet containing the question papers. This will help the council to track the question papers. In addition to that there will also be a more effective manual tracking system in place.

Apart from the venue supervisor, centre-in-charge and centre secretary, no one will be allowed to enter the venue with mobile phone. The process of capturing video inside all the venues will also be done this year.

The council has also introduced the central control room numbers: 033-23374984/033-23374985/033-23374986/033-23374987 and 033-23370792. A toll-free helpdesk number has also been made operational, which the candidates can call up in case of any problem.
