House clears funds for Power, Transport and Food Supplies demands

West Bengal Assembly on Monday cleared the budgetary demands of Rs 11,639 crore made by departments of Food and Supplies, Power and Transport.

State Power minister Sobhandeb Chattaopadhyay, placing the demand for Rs 2,818 crore, said that despite lowering of central assistance to 60 percent from 90
percent, the government remained committed to electricity to all.

Rs 1,341 crore was demanded by state Transport ministry and its minister Suvendu Adhikari said 10 new AC minibus would roll out in Kolkata.

The Food and Supplies ministry's demand for Rs 7,534 crore was passed.

Food minister Jyotipriyo Mullick said 1.31 crore ration cards had been cancelled and assured that issuing of new ration cards will continue.

He slammed the Centre for continious reduction in kerosene quota and expressed fear whether its distribution would continue in view of it.
