Hakim to inaugurate hotel Zone by the Park today
Kolkata: Firhad Hakim, state Urban Development minister will inaugurate Zone by The Park situated next to Biswa Bangla Convention Centre on Friday.
The 100 bed hotel is a part of Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, a project of Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO). It has been constructed by L&T.
Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, an initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is the biggest convention in the country with an auditorium that can accommodate 3,000 people. The Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2018 was held at the centre. The inauguration of the hotel before the BGBS scheduled to be held on February 7 and 8 is a major step.
Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Limited got the job to run the hotel on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. There will be a joint management committee to run the hotel.
There are eight floors and a swimming pool on the 9th floor. There are banquet halls and conference rooms. The idea behind constructing the hotel was to accommodate dignitaries who would come to attend meeting or seminars at the convention centre. Some often prefer to stay at the venue. The guests of the hotels will be able to go to the convention by using the inter-connecting alley. There is a library and a gymnasium. The guests will be provided with the best quality food and hospitality.
Biswa Bangla Convention Centre stands on a land of 10-acre. It has four large exhibition halls including a state banquet. A garden food court and two smaller capacity auditoria each with a sitting capacity of 434 people have been constructed. The centre has become immensely popular and meetings and conventions are being held regularly. Even the organisers of various events will prefer to put up their guests in the hotel situated next to the venue.
Zone by the Park is surrounded by important landmark of New Town, Rabindra Tirtha, a cultural hub. It is situated close to Eco Park, the biggest urban park in Eastern India. Mother's Wax Museum is also situated nearby.
