Hakim officially launches 'Zone by The Park'
Kolkata: Firhad Hakim, state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs minister, on Friday officially launched 'Zone by The Park', a five star deluxe category hotel situated adjacent to Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town.
The property has come up in the public private partnership (PPP) model. A management committee has been set up with representation from the government and the private hotel group that is vested with the responsibility to look after its functioning.
Speaking on the occasion, Hakim said: "I am glad that Park hotel group has partnered with HIDCO to run this property. We will have best maintenance in place and better services here. We already have the largest convention centre in the country in New Town.
"I have come here around 5-10 times during the construction of Biswa Bangla Convention Centre and I can assure that no one would find such facilities anywhere in the country not even in Navi Mumbai and Noida. It is going to be the main business place of Bengal," Hakim maintained.
"We have already started with the process of setting up a Silicon Hub near Eco Park. I urge HIDCO chairman Debashis Sen to arrange a piece of land around 200-300 acre so that more IT companies can be accommodated. It is a centre of attraction in Bengal. The CM has transformed Bengal into one of the favourite destinations for the IT companies," Hakim added.
Zone by The Park, Kolkata, consisting of 117 rooms is strategically located and will offer a great variety of food and beverages to its guests. It has three banquet halls and two boardrooms making it ideal for weddings, conferences, events and high-powered meetings, said an official of the Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Limited. During the programme, Vijay Dewan, Managing Director, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Limited, said: "We are delighted to bring Zone by The Park. In 1967, Apeejay Surrendra Group's first hotel The Park, Kolkata, opened its doors at the pulsating Park Street; and today we are proud to bring our social catalyst brand, Zone by The Park, to this new part of the city, the new pulse of Bengal.
