Govt to recruit 7,000 primary & upper primary teachers

Kolkata: In a major move, the Mamata Banerjee government has decided to recruit around 7,000 teachers in primary and upper primary schools. It also includes 284 teachers for Santhali medium schools.

The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna on Friday.

Firhad Hakim, the state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs minister, held a Press conference after the meeting. He said: "Decision has been taken to recruit 6,594 teachers for Hindi, Bengali and Olchiki."

He said that the 6,594 teachers will be recruited for 2,198 primary and upper primary schools. At the same time, 284 teachers will be recruited for Santhali medium schools.

It may be mentioned that this is one of the major moves of the state government in recruiting for such a large number of posts.

When asked about the process of recruitment, Hakim said: "The posts have been approved by the cabinet. Now, the concerned department will deal with the process of recruitment."

It may be mentioned that the Mamata Banerjee government has taken a series of steps to create job opportunities and this is one of the major moves in this regard.

In May, the state government created more than 3,000 jobs in different departments including Finance, Home and Hill Affairs, Agriculture and Higher Education.

Again in August, the state government had decided

to recruit 8,000 policemen

and 565 sub-inspectors, to ensure better policing in the state.
