Govt taking all steps to save people from any inconvenience
Kolkata: With prediction of heavy rainfall to continue for the next two days, the state government is taking all necessary steps to ensure that common people do not face any inconvenience.
The top brass of the state government has received direction to maintain vigil so that necessary steps can be taken before the situation turns worse.
The district authorities have been directed to maintain contact with the control room in the state secretariat. The officials in Nabanna are collecting updated information from the district officials. Officials of the Disaster Management and Civil Defence department have also taken several steps to extend help to people.
According to the forecast of the meteorological department, "the cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal between 1.5 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level persists. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the northern part of Bay of Bengal."
There is prediction of generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain or thundershowers in Kolkata in the next two days. On Thursday, there was heavy rainfall since morning. There was rainfall of 127 mm at Manicktala, 106 mm at Topsia, 133 mm at Ultadanga and 108 mm at Thanthania.
