Govt introduces courses on agriculture sector

Kolkata: Widening the options for job-oriented skill development training, the state government has introduced vocational training courses on different aspects of agriculture.
It may be mentioned that Bengal has witnessed improvement in agriculture sector in the past six years. Now, with the sharp growth of the state in agriculture sector, the state government is providing vocational training to students to pick up different skills like soil testing, etc.
It will be immensely helpful for youths in the state, as it will create job opportunities for them and they can earn their livelihood by becoming self dependent.
At present, 12 experts from the agriculture sector have been engaged and they are providing the training at certain centres. All necessary infrastructure has been set up to ensure that updated training can be provided to the youths in the state.
It may be mentioned that at present, there are 2,700 Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) in the state and steps have been taken to upgrade 700 VTCs as Advanced VTCs.
It may be mentioned that the state government has won the Krishi Karman Award for consecutive four years and it has been awarded for Bengal's development in different sectors of agriculture. The average earning of farmers has also gone up manifold.
In such a situation, vocational training based on the agriculture sector will be helpful for youths of the state.
A large section of students from higher classes are now showing interest to take up the courses, as it is turning out to be beneficial for them, due to the fact that it is helping them to get jobs and there are many cases in which several youths have become self-dependent as well.
The state government has also taken several steps in improving the skills of the trainers in the VTCs.
