Govt gives 10 acre land to HC for Re 1
Kolkata: The state government is giving 10 acres of land in New Town to the Calcutta High Court, for construction of its new campus. The land that is worth around Rs 203 crore, will be given to the High Court at Re 1 and the decision in this regard has been taken in the cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The meeting was held in the state secretariat on Thursday.
Chandrima Bhattacharya, minister of state for Health, said: "The most important decision that has been taken up in Thursday's cabinet meeting, is giving land to the Calcutta High Court in Rajarhat for its new campus. The state government is giving 10 acres of land. The cost of the land is Rs 203 crore and it will be given to the Calcutta High Court at Re 1."
It may be recalled that a circuit bench of the Calcutta High Court is coming up in Jalpaiguri. It will benefit the people of North Bengal as they would not have to travel to Kolkata anymore.
