Goons shoot at husband of TMC councillor

Kolkata: The husband of Trinamool Congress councillor Dola Das was shot at by some miscreants on BT Road on Wednesday morning. Das is the councillor of ward number 21 of Khardah municipality in North 24 Parnagas.

The victim, Nanigopal Das, who sustained injuries in his right hand is admitted at a private hospital on EM Bypass. He is associated with transport business.

Police sources informed that the firing took place while he was returning home after his daily chores.

"Everyday during early morning he travels to Dunlop bus depot from his residence at Ambagan area and returns home after two hours. He was returning home in his motorcycle after his work when he was chased by two miscreants. When he was at firing range at Dhankal area in Sodepur he was shot at," a police officer of Khardah police station said.

He fell down from his motorcycle after being hit and somehow managed to escape leaving his two wheeler at the spot. A source in the municipality informed that the incident was a fall out of a rivalry over money. The miscreants wanted some money from Nanigopal Das which he refused. He was rushed to a private hospital on EM Bypass where doctors conducted an operation on him.
