Gold jewellery snatched in moving train
Kolkata: A woman's purse and gold jewellery were snatched by a miscreant on a moving AC train on Thursday. Attendant of the coach has been arrested for negligence during duty. Sayani Mitra, a passenger of the AC II Tier coach of Tirhut Express, was asleep when the train was near Bandel station at 2.14 am.
However while she was asleep, she felt someone was trying to snatch her purse and other belongings. Immediately, she woke up and raised an alarm. She found the gate of the coach was open and saw the miscreant jumping out of the train.
The woman immediately informed her husband over the phone. "Cash and ornaments worth Rs 70,000 have been stolen. I am quite sure that the coach attendant had some connection with the thief who stole my wife's pursue and belongings," said Suman Banerjee, a marketing professional and resident of Kumartuli. Suman took to Twitter and registered an online complaint with the RPF Eastern Railway.
"RPF officials attended train at Sealdah Railway station and rendered assistance to lodge FIR. This refers to GRPS/Kolkata case no. 00/19 dated 24.10.2019 U/S 379 IPC," tweeted RPF Eastern Railway, in response to the online complaint. Suman said a written complaint was lodged with the Bandel GRP Police Station.
At 8:14 pm, he again tweeted mentioning that that the GRP didn't send the report to Bandel GRP and almost 16 hours have passed.
"I don't know what's wrong, even they left the coach attendant from custody. GRP Kokata Stn is doing nothing. Please help," he tweeted.
