Ghosh inaugurates construction work of new road
Cooch Behar: Rabindranath Ghosh, minister of North Bengal Development department, on Monday inaugurated the construction work of a three kilometre long road, at an estimated cost of Rs 5.31 crore.
Once constructed, the road will meet a long-standing demand of local people. The road will connect Tapurhat Chaupathi under Cooch Behar I block and Phansi Ghat of river Torsha. It may be mentioned that after coming to power in 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had stressed on the construction of both rural and urban roads. Rural connectivity in Bengal has improved remarkably in the past seven years.
Ghosh said the road will be constructed with black stones. There is a market covering an area of 600 metres on the 3km stretch.
He said some shops will be shifted to facilitate construction of the road, following discussion with the shop owners.
There will be drains on both sides of the road.
