Gastronomer's delight: Nalban Food Park to come up as top destination for foodies

Kolkata: The state Fisheries Development Corporation (SFDC) is all set to develop Nalban Food Park as one of the favourite hangout zones for food lovers.

"The variety of fish cuisines cooked from fishes available in our own waterbodies has always been the unique selling point (USP) of SFDC. Now, we are all set to start a restaurant that will serve Chinese, Tandoor and Mughlai items. We have rooms just beside our Bhuri Bhoj restaurant, which will be renovated and turned into the new restaurant. We are now preparing the plan of the ambience and décor and hopefully we will unveil the new restaurant this November," said Subrata Mukherjee, managing director of SFDC.

At present, there are two restaurants at Nalban Food Park, namely The All Fish restaurant and the Bhuri Bhoj

restaurant that was unveiled

on Wednesday by state Fisheries minister Chandranath Sinha.

Both these restaurants have Bengali food in their menu with a special emphasis on fish dishes. Food items are served at a pocket friendly price in both of them. The SFDC is also

making plans to renovate the All Fish Restaurant, which

sees huge footfall on a regular basis.

"We didn't need to make any construction work separately. There were rooms just beside the sprawling waterbody that was lying unused. Three rooms were simply renovated and given the shape of Bhuri Bhoj restaurant. The verandah space just beside the sprawling waterbody will surely provide a wonderful dining experience," Mukherjee added.

The five day Ilish (Hilsa) Festival kicked off at Bhuri Bhoj restaurant on Saturday and will continue till September 4.

Five special thalis comprising a wide variety of items prepared from Ilish will be served during the festival. The price range hovers between Rs 390 and 590.
