Free coaching for talented Kanyashree students

BALURGHAT: South Dinajpur district administration has taken initiative to provide assistance of free coaching to the talented Kanyashree students who aspire to sit for joint entrance examinations for engineering and medical streams in collaboration with a Kolkata-based NGO.

"We have announced a project Lakshya on Kanyashree Day on August 14 this year in association with a Kolkata-based organisation for free coaching to Kanyashree students who are talented and aspire to sit either for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination for engineering or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admissions in medical streams at the undergraduate level at various government and private medical colleges," District Magistrate Nikhil Nirmal said on Tuesday.

Lakshya provides free-of-cost training and coaching to the shortlisted needy girl students. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said her government was committed to ensure no student was denied coaching for competitive exams due to lack of financial resources. Nirmal said students born in poor families are intelligent but there are no resources for their coaching.
