Four injured in road mishap on EM Bypass
Kolkata: Four passengers of an auto rickshaw were injured after it toppled near Mukundapur crossing on Eastern Metropolitan Bypass on Thursday afternoon.
Locals claimed that the auto driver was driving at a high speed and lost control while avoiding collision with a scooter coming from opposite direction. According to locals, on Thursday around 12:25 pm, an auto from Ruby crossing to Baghajatin route was moving towards Ajaynagar along the E M Bypass.
The auto driver claimed that near Mukundapur crossing all of a sudden on E M Bypass a scooter tried to cross over to the Ruby crossing bound
lane.
To avoid collision auto driver applied break and turned the direction handle and it collided with a guard rail of Kolkata Traffic Police and toppled.
The passengers fell out of the auto due to the sudden hit. Sourendra Sur of Bijoygarh, who is an inspector of West Bengal Police and a school student identified as Aditya Kumar of Highland Park
suffered head injuries in the incident.
The other two passengers sustained minor injuries.Traffic police personnel there rushed to the spot and sent the injured persons to the hospital. The driver of the auto somehow escaped unhurt.
Later the auto was seized and sent to Survey Park police station along with the driver.In another incident, a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) lost control and hit a signal post of
Bidhannagar Police on the median divider of Biswabangla Sarani.
As the incident happened early on Thursday morning, no major damage was reported. There was a traffic congestion near the accident spot.
