Four-day long Rabindra Bharati Sanskriti Utsav to start from Jan 17

Kolkata: The four-day Rabindra Bharati Sanskriti Utsav will start from January 17 that marks the second day of the two-day Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS).
The day will also see the unveiling of a light and sound show highlighting the history of Thakurbari and contribution of Rabindra Nath Tagore in the history of Bengal's freedom struggle.
"A number of foreign delegates are in the city for the two-day business summit. Rabindranath Tagore's life and works have always evoked tremendous interest among foreigners. We want these delegates to be present at our event as well," RBU vice chancellor Sabyasachi Basu Ray Chaudhury told reporters on Friday. The 30-minute light and sound show will be inaugurated by state Education minister Partha Chatterjee on Wednesday evening and it will be open for all from January 27.
The tickets for the show will be priced at Rs 50. "We will begin the half an hour show in Bengali. However, we will also introduce two more shows in English and Hindi. The script is being finalised," the Vice Chancellor said.
It may be mentioned that the state Tourism department has allocated Rs 56 lakh for the light and sound show.
It will be for the first time that the four-day cultural programme will be held on both Jorasanko and BT Road campus.
The inaugural and closing programme will be held at Jorasanko while the second and third day programmes will be carried out on BT Road campus.
The four-day Utsav will also see performance from noted singers from Bangladesh. "We are thankful to the state Higher Education department for providing funds to host the event in such a grand manner," Basu Ray Chaudhury added.
