Four arrested for setting up illegal telephone exchange

Kolkata: The state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested four persons including a Bangladeshi national for allegedly setting up illegal telephone exchange at Chandannagar in Hoogly district. All of them were using methods to make Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) calls bypassing the legal international gateways. Sleuths found that a small telephone exchange set up was in progress. Later it was revealed that Md Sarwer Jahan, a Bangladeshi national came to India to set up the infrastructure. It is a threat to the security of the nation. During the search operation officials seized computers, sealed packets of postpaid and prepaid SIM cards of various service providers, one server, one TP link, one SIM Box, one Ethernet media converter and one broadband media converter.
