Forest minister receives minor injuries

Kolkata: State Forest minister Binay Krishna Burman received minor injuries on his legs after his car met with an accident on Tuesday afternoon. Burman was later shifted to another car and transported to his destination.

According to sources, Burman boarded his car from his residence at Latapata village in Mathabhanaga for Mathabhanga College to take part in a programme with a police pilot. When his car entered Mathabhanga urban area, a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) somehow managed to get inside the convoy. It is alleged that despite the HGV driver being given the signal to make way for the minister's car, he did not give way. After a few meters, he applied the emergency brake. Meanwhile, the minister's car driver could not stop it on time and the vehicle hit the back portion of the HGV.

The minister who was at the backseat sustained minor injuries on his legs. He later left for his destination in another car. The driver of the HGV was also injured. He has been detained and is being questioned.
