Fire tender meets with accident, 6 personnel injured

Six fire brigade personnel were injured when a fire tender overturned while returning after extinguishing a fire at Picnic Garden area on Saturday noon.
According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the accident happened after the vehicle developed a technical snag. Police said that the injured persons were in the fire tender when the vehicle suddenly overturned near Ambedkar bridge at Uttar Panchannagram area under Tiljala.
After being informed, the cops reached the spot and rushed the injured victims to a nearby hospital. Police said that five of the injured persons were later released from the hospital while one person has been undergoing treatment. After starting an investigation, police came to know that when the vehicle on the move, the steering suddenly developed a technical snag as a result of which, the vehicle overturned on the road. Cops also said that they came to know that the fire tender overturned at around 12.15 pm on Saturday in which six fire personnel received injuries. The fire tender was returning to the Pragati Maidan fire station after dousing fire.
In another incident, one person was killed and 30 others were injured, some of them critically, when a bus they were travelling in overturned at Chhatna area of Birbhum. The local residents took part in the rescue operation before the police reached the spot.
The local residents moved out the injured persons from the bus and rushed them to Kandi Hospital in Murshidabad. According to the doctors, the condition of some of the victims is serious. Police said that the passengers were going to join a fair in Birbhum from Bharatpur area in Murshidabad in a private bus.
Reportedly, some people were also travelling on the roof of the bus. When the bus was crossing Chapna village, it lost control and overturned. One passenger was declared brought dead after being taken to the hospital. The driver of the bus fled from the spot after the accident.
