Fire breaks out at house in Maniktala, none injured

Kolkata: A fire broke out at a house beside Chhaya cinema hall near Maniktala. Two fire tenders were pressed in to action. Later, one more fire tender was sent to join but before it could reach the spot, the fire was doused.

According to locals, fire occurred at around 8:45 pm on Tuesday. Some pedestrians noticed smoke billowing out from the ground floor of a three-storey building. The residents of that house were immediately alerted. The fire and emergency services was informed as well. At around 9 pm, two fire tenders reached the spot. Primarily, firemen removed three elder persons from the house. In the meantime, fire spread towards the first floor of the house. Without wasting no time, two tenders started dousing the flames. One more tender was called as reinforcement. Following the inspection, it was found that some inflammable chemicals were stored on the ground floor. The fire fighters are suspecting that a short-circuit from an old electrical wiring might have led to the fire.
