Film to highlight Bengal's MSME potential in BGBS

Kolkata: A special film, highlighting the existing infrastructure and potential of Bengal in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, is set to be screened in Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS). The BGBS is scheduled to be held on January 16 and 17. The 3 minute long film will be screened on the second day of the summit.
According to a senior official of the MSME department, Bengal at present tops the country in MSME sector and has a huge potential with massive improvement in infrastructure in the past six years. Out of the total eight sessions in the BGBS, there will be three session on MSME sector.
On the first day, the textile session of MSME will be held, while on the second day of the international business summit, the session "Unleashing the potential of engineering sector" will be held. The interaction session where B2Bs will be held, will also be on the second day of the summit.
The film will be screened on the second day after the session on engineering sector. It has been prepared in such a way that it highlights the industry and infrastructure available in the state for the MSME sector. The film will make one's concept clear about the types of industries existing in the state at present.
"We are showcasing whatever exists at present. Nothing which is projected and is in the process of implementation, has been featured in the film. Moreover, stress has been given on making the film more informative within a short span of only 3 minutes, instead of featuring any popular film artistes to make it attractive," said an official, adding that it has been made keeping the fact in mind that delegates from different countries are going to watch it.
A lot depends on the film as one may wish to visit one of the industrial estates after watching it in the film with a purpose of investment to set up industry. The official said the film contains real footages of the foundry park in Howrah and the industrial estates in other districts, including North 24-Parganas.
After the film is screened in BGBS, the same will also be screened later in the districts, so that entrepreneurs from districts, who cannot turn up at the international business summit, can become aware about the opportunities and infrastructure available across the state for MSME sector. The film will be used round the year to attract more investment in the sector in Bengal.
It may be mentioned that in BGBS 2017, there was a proposed investment of Rs 56,000 crore in the MSME sector. This year, officials of the department is expecting more proposals of investment in the sector as the infrastructure has improved, opening opportunities for more investment.
