Federal Front is united; will meet in Delhi next week: CM
Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday that the Federal Front was very much united and their sole purpose was to oust the BJP from the Centre.
Talking to newsmen, she said: "We are united and we will meet on February 13 and 14 in Delhi. The new government will be of the people, for the people and by the people".
Banerjee said on Tuesday: "Everyone in the country can become the Prime Minister. It will be a people's government."
The Chief Minister dharna, which was held after the CBI officials visited the house of Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar on Sunday without any relevant document or warrant, has given a new momentum to the Federal Front and made BJP leadership visibly nervous.
On January 19, leaders of 22 parties had come to Kolkata to attend the United India rally. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recently termed it as the biggest and historic rally where the message of unity was given to the people. On Monday, both the Houses of Parliament had to be adjourned following protests from all the Opposition parties. Banerjee had received support from Opposition leaders including HD Deve Gowda, Kamal Nath, Sharad Pawer, MK Stalin, Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Yadav. Chandrababu Naidu and Tejashwi Yadav of RJD had visited the dharna manch and addressed the gathering.
When asked about the deployment of Central agencies to scare the Opposition leaders, Banerjee said: "They (BJP) are sending one agency or the other to scare the Opposition as they know their expiry date is over." She further said: "These coercive measures will not work and we will fight the BJP unitedly."
