Family stage protest in hospital after patient's death
Kolkata: The family members of a 59-year-old man, who died in a village hospital in Hooghly's Pandua, staged a demonstration alleging negligence on the part of the hospital.
The incident caused tension among the other patients in the hospital.
It was learnt that the victim, Mansur Ali (59), a resident of Sachitara area of Pandua complained of chest pain on Monday morning.
The family members of the victim said the patient had died an hour after he was admitted to the hospital.
After being admitted to the hospital, the victim complained of serious respiratory distress.
He was put on oxygen support. The family members of the victim alleged that there was no oxygen in the cylinder and this had led to death of the victim.
They alleged glaring medical negligence. A family member of the victim alleged that the patient was not attended after his admission.
The doctors and the staff members were urged to check but they denied treatment to the patient.
They also demanded stern action against those who are responsible behind the death of the victim. Police later reached the spot and brought the situation under control. A probe has been initiated in
this regard.
