Kolkata: Four persons were stabbed over a land dispute at Shantipur in Nadia on Sunday.

Locals rushed the four injured persons to Shantipur State General Hospital. Later, all of them were shifted to Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital in Kalyani. Police have not been able to trace out the miscreants.

According to the locals, Atiar Rahman, a resident of Gopalpur in Shantipur, has a land in the area which one Kalu Shaikh of the same area wanted to buy. Though both parties had some talks over the sale of the land, finally it did not mature. Since then a conflict started between Rahman and Shaikh. Rahman was attacked before as well over the same conflict. Rahman owns a garment business. Recently, he planned to expand it and for that he thought of using the land.

On Sunday, when he along with his two sons Masud Ali and Mehmood Ali went to measure the land, a few miscreants attacked them with sharp weapons. All three of them were stabbed brutally. When Rahman's wife Sahanara Begam rushed there to save her husband and sons, she was also stabbed.

On hearing their screams, locals ran towards the land. However, the miscreants fled the scene. Locals rushed the four injured to the hospital.

"We went to measure our land. We were attacked by four-five miscreants there. They were armed with swords and other sharp weapons," said Mahmood. Later, Rahman lodged a complaint against five persons including Shaikh. Police initiated a case on charges of attempt to murder and grievous hurt against the five FIR named accused. A search is on to nab the miscreants.
