Fake job racket busted: 7 held, several documents seized
Kolkata: The Criminal Investigating Department busted a fake job racket and arrested seven persons from various districts in South Bengal for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Police said the accused had collected money from various job seekers on the pretext of providing them with jobs.
Fake appointment letters and some other documents have been seized in this connection.
On the basis of a specific complaint, the CID started a probe and came to know about the fake job racket that was operating from South Bengal.
Acting on a tip off, the CID officials raided various places and arrested the accused.
Police said the accused used to run a fake job racket across the state. The racketeers used to induce job aspirants and asked them to pay a huge sum of money on the pretext of providing them with various government jobs including that of school teachers, police constables, officers in Food and Supply department, Transport department, group D employees in the Railways and Indian army.
Police started a suo motu complaint in this connection.
The matter came to light after some of these candidates went to police saying they had been duped by some people.
The officials found that the documents were fake.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jayanta Kumar Ghorai, Jaynarayan Mondal, Gunadhar Manna, Amiya Paul, Swapan Mondal, Sukumar Dinda and Nityananda Das.
According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that Ghorai, a resident of East Midnapore might be the mastermind behind the fake job racket.
Police are interrogating the accused to know the others involved in the racket. Cops are not ruling out the involvement of others.
