Fake doctor arrested after minor girl dies of alleged wrong treatment

Police have arrested a fake doctor from Ultadanga whose wrong treatment had allegedly led to the death of a one-and-a-half-year-old girl.
On the basis of a specific complaint lodged by the victim's family members, the police have started a probe and arrested the accused Sanjib Chaki. Police said that the family members of the child Gouri Naskar, resident of Ultadanga, took the baby to the accused doctor Sanjib Chaki on July 24 as she complained of fever and cough. Since then, the victim was under his medication.
The victim's family members alleged that they took the baby to the doctor again on last Wednesday as her fever was not cured. After examining the baby, the doctor administered an injection on the baby following which the condition of the baby deteriorated. On Friday night, the baby died at her residence.
The family members of the victim and the local residents staged a demonstration in front of the chamber of the accused doctor alleging that the patient died following wrong treatment by the doctor. Some of the family members found that the prescription did not mention the name of the doctor and his registration number. This had aroused suspicion of the local residents and they informed the matter to the local police station.
After receiving the compliant, the police visited the house of the accused doctor who is a resident of Ultandanga Main Road and they asked the accused to produce certificates but he failed to do so. During the interrogation, the police found inconsistency in his statement and took him to the police station. As he failed to provide any documents in support of his claim of being an MBBS doctor, police arrested the accused on late Friday night. Police have started a detailed probe.
Local people said that the accused doctor had been running a chamber in the locality but nobody doubted that he could be fake doctor. It has been learnt that the accused has admitted his guilt during the police interrogation. Police have also come to know some important information while interrogating the accused.
The local residents also said that the accused doctor was always available when there is a crisis. He used to go to houses of patients in cases of emergency and he was easily accessible.
