ER conducts drives against tickets touting

KOLKATA: To eradicate the menace of Railway tickets touting, RPF/Eastern Railway is always on toe to find out the modus operandi being used by the touts to procure and sell Railway e-tickets unauthorisedly through personal user IDs. Drives against this menace have been intensified during 2018. As a result, a total of 172 offenders have been arrested U/S 143 of Railways Act up to September 2018 in comparison to the arrest of 124 in the corresponding period of 2017. As instructed by DG/RPF/Railway Board, New Delhi, a nation-wide simultaneous raid against Railway ticket touting was organised on November 2. During this nationwide raid, around 185 touts were arrested in which RPF/ER contributed the most by arresting 32 Touts with recovery of e-tickets, valued Rs 10,67,653. IG cum Principal Chief Security Commissioner/Eastern Railway Dr R K Malik advised all senior officers of Eastern Railway to organise such simultaneous drives in Eastern Railway to curb the menace of touting activities.
