Elderly woman dies, family alleges negligence

Kolkata: Family members of an elderly woman who died in Ramkrishna Nursing Home in Phool Bagan alleged negligence behind her death.
The victim, Rita Basak, a mental patient was admitted to the private nursing home on 16 April following some ailments.
The family members on Wednesday were informed that the patient had died.
They have alleged that the patient might have been strangled to death as there were finger marks
around her neck.
The nursing home authorities have, however, denied the allegation and said the patient died a normal
death due to various ailments including severe respiratory distress.
On the other hand, the victim's family members alleged that since admission no treatment was given to the patient. Even the family members were denied to meet the patient by the nursing home authorities as it could increase the hypertension in the patient.
The family members of the victim went on to allege that the private nursing home lacks the basic infrastructure.
They also said the nursing home has no RMO. The owner of the nursing home who is also a doctor allegedly looks after the works of RMO.
Some of the locals alleged that the nursing home authorities were running without a proper licence since 2016.
It was also alleged that the HDU of the private nursing home lacks the basis infrastructure.
Many inflammable materials are also stored inside the HDU which hardly function, alleged the locals.
