Drunk youth molest girl, rough up father

Some local criminals molested a college girl and thrashed her father at Hatiara in Baguiati on Saturday night. The girl confronted the intoxicated youth over their actions of eve-teasing and boozing while she was returning home from her college. The accused youth molested the girl and also beat up her father. Police have arrested one person in this connection.

Police learnt that the youth, involved in several anti-social activities, regularly consumed liquor in the area and used to tease women. The victim protested their act on Saturday leading to three youth tearing her dress and molesting her there.

The girl managed to run away to her house. Later, those criminals also reached to the girl's house looking her. Her father denied them entry in

the house. After a brief altercation, the youth beat up her father. The elderly person received several injuries and was admitted in the hospital. The other family members, who tried to save the elderly person, were also injured.

The victim's father is hotelier. The accused youths attacked that hotel and damaged various properties there.

After initiating investigation, police arrested a youth from that gang. Kabla Sardar, the accused was also interrogated by the police.

The victim girl alleged that they informed the matter to local Councillor Gita Mondal but she did not take any step. Later, they lodged complaint with the New Town Police Station. Police took prompt steps to arrest one of the accused.

In a similar case, two civic volunteers were beaten up at Alipurduar when they protested against drinking of alcohol at roadside on Sunday. Police said, those civic volunteers were admitted in a hospital. Their condition is stated to be critical.
