Drug cartel busted, heroin worth Rs 125 cr recovered
New Delhi: Special cell of Delhi police has busted an interstate drug cartel by arresting its two key members Chamling Amol (24) and Madhav Goutam (40) resident of Imphal East, Manipur with 25 Kg. of heroin worth more than Rs. 125 crore in International market recovered from their possession.
Beside this, one Scorpio car which was being used in transporting the contraband and several mobile handsets along with several SIM cards used in the drug trafficking activities have also been recovered from
them.
Sleuths of Special Cell were working on information that an Interstate narcotic drug cartel is active in states of Manipur, U.P, Delhi, Bihar.
Members of this cartel are involved in supply of heroin in Delhi, NCR, UP and Bihar, after procuring the same from suppliers of Manipur, who actually collects raw material from hilly areas around international border of Manipur and Myanmar, said DCP Special Cell Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
During this process, the members of this cartel were identified and their activities were kept under discreet surveillance.
The trend revealed during recent cases show that the Golden Triangle Area (Lhasa, Thailand and Myanmar) through North Eastern states has started showing its presence on the drug map of the Indian subcontinent, he said.
