Drivers flee after hitting median dividers in two separate accidents

Kolkata: Two vehicles toppled after the drivers lost control and hit the median dividers at two different places on Monday night.

Around 1:20 am, a four-wheeler bearing registration number WB 02W 7025 was moving towards Chingrihata crossing at a high speed. A few meters before Chingrihata flyover, the driver of the car somehow lost control and collided with the median divider on Eastern Metropolitan (EM) Bypass. After hitting the divider, the car moved beyond control and went down into a water body beside

the road.

On hearing noise, some locals rushed to the and saw the car stuck in the mud.

Immediately, locals rescued the five persons including the driver from inside the car. Sources informed that all of them sustained minor injuries. When locals were trying to recover the vehicle, all of the occupants of the vehicle silently left the spot abandoning the car. Immediately, Pragati Maidan police station was informed. Police later recovered the vehicle and took it to the police station.

A case has been initiated for rash driving against unknown person/s. Sources also informed that the vehicle is registered in the name of a private company situated at Middleton Row. No one has been arrested yet.

In another accident, another car hit the guard wall of Nabadiganta flyover in the commencing point of the flyover and toppled on Monday night. Six persons were recovered and sent to Bidhannagar Sub-divisional Hospital for treatment. Later, Electronics Complex police station seized the vehicle and towed it away.
