DRI seizes truck with foreign cigarettes worth over Rs 1 crore

Darjeeling: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized a truck along with foreign cigarettes worth over Rs 1 crore. The truck driver has been arrested.
Based on a tip, sleuths of the DRI seized a truck from the Ghoshpukur Bypass area on the outskirts of Siliguri on Sunday night.
The truck contained 10,43,400 foreign cigarette sticks worth approximately Rs 1 crore 4 lakh and 34 thousand. The cigarettes are made in the USA and UK.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Sanker Yadav of Siwan in Bihar, was arrested. He was produced at the Siliguri court on Monday and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
