Double murder in Narendrapur: Bodies found stuffed in suitcases
Kolkata: A couple was found murdered at Narendrapur in South 24-Parganas on Tuesday and their bodies were found stuffed inside two suitcases in the washroom of a house where they were working as caretakers.
Pradip Biswas (55) and Alpana Biswas (45) were staying at the house at Kheyadaha since 1997 as caretakers. Pradip's brother, Joy, said he had last spoken to his brother on Sunday night after which several of his attempts to connect with him had gone in vain.
On Tuesday morning, he came to check and found two luggage trolleys inside the bathroom which had bloodstains. He immediately informed the neighbours and called the police.
The luggage trolleys were opened and the two bodies, partially decomposed, were found and Joy identified them.
The land and the house where the couple used to stay belonged to seven-eight persons who had bought the property jointly in 1997. One of the owners, Pranabesh Garai, stated that the duo was very faithful and friendly.
Also, there is no chance of robbery as there were no valuables in the house. However, later it was found that a TV set was missing. But it is suspected that this is not a case of murder for robbery and more than one person could be involved in the killing.
"A probe has been started. No sign of ransacking was found. It seems that they have been killed approximately two days ago by more than one person. There are several injury marks. Few scissors with bloodstains have been found," said Rashid Munir Khan, Superintendent of Police (SP), Baruipur Police District.
