Doctor assaults male student in college quarter
Kolkata: A first-year male paramedical student at College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital in Kamarhati has brought charges of sexual assault against a male doctor of the hospital.
The victim, originally a resident of West Midnapore, who is pursuing an undergraduate course in this medical college, lodged a complaint at Belghoria police station on the basis of which a probe has been initiated.
The victim currently stays as a paying guest at Agarpara in North 24-Parganas.
The victim has alleged that the accused doctor asked him to visit his quarter on January 10. When he entered his quarter the victim was allegedly asked to strip his clothes and then sexually abused by the accused doctor.
The accused also threatened him of dire consequences if he tried to make the matter public. The victim initially did not report the matter as he thought his career might be in jeopardy.
However, he later gathered courage and informed his seniors.
Following the incident, the victim lodged a complaint on Monday evening.
He also raised the matter with the officials of the College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital. Police have started a detailed probe into the incident.
