Doc's registration cancelled for one year over medical negligence

Kolkata: West Bengal Medical Council has cancelled the registration of Dr Tapan Kumar Dass for one year, for his involvement in a case of gross medical negligence that eventually led to the death of a patient.
The accused doctor had ignored a fairly large opacity inside the body of the patient, which was later revealed during a clinical test.
The incident took place in April 2016. The patient was later treated by another doctor who determined the disease nine months later. By that time, cancer had already spread in his body.
The victim died of lung cancer on November 17. Srabani Das, the victim's wife, lodged a complaint with the West Bengal Medical Council, after which the gross medical negligence came to light. During hearings, the medical council found negligence on part of the doctor and cancelled his registration for one year. MPOST
