Deputy chief municipal health officer of Borough 4 suspended

Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) authorities have suspended a deputy chief municipal health officer of Borough 4 for dereliction of duty. Smita Bakshi, chairperson of Borough 4 along with some councillors of the borough, had complained that the deputy chief municipal health officer was not conducting the outreach camps under the National Urban Health Mission properly. The KMC officials conducted an inquiry and suspended him. It may be mentioned that to improve work culture, the civic authorities have installed biometric attendance of the employees at the KMC headquarters at S N Banerjee Road. The biometric attendance will be installed in phases. Finally, it will be installed in the KMC offices in the boroughs as well. Mayor Firhad Hakim said the work culture of the civic authorities has improved over the past few years but it needs further improvement.
