Decomposed body of 19-year-old recovered from roadside drain
Kolkata: Body of a youth was found from a roadside drain in West Port area on Saturday morning. Locals alleged that the deceased, Sarfaraz Alam (19), was missing for the past three days. According to police sources, Alam was associated with several illegal activities in the past. Recently, he had left his connections and was trying to come back to the mainstream.
On Saturday morning around 8 am, locals saw a body inside a roadside drain. Immediately, West Port police station was informed. Later, police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy. Sources informed that when the body was pulled out from the drain some locals identified the deceased as Alam. His family members from Lenin Road under Garden Reach police station area were informed. Later Alam's family members identified the body officially.
His family members alleged that Alam had been murdered by his former friends who are connected with illegal activities in the Port area.
According to police sources, the body was found in a decomposed state. Though it is not confirmed, it is being assumed that there were several injury marks on the body. As the body was already decomposed, it is hard to figure out what kind of injuries were there on his body.
According to local sources, Alam used to be a member of a team of anti-social elements. His family members alleged that his old friends had murdered him as Alam was trying to leave their gang. Sources informed that Alam's family members informed the police about one Sunny who is suspected to be connected with the murder. But police have not confirmed anything yet as they are waiting for the autopsy examination. Primarily a case of unnatural death has been registered at the West Port police station.
