CU journalism students given wrong papers in exam

Kolkata: Students appearing for BA Part II examinations in Journalism & Mass Communication in Calcutta University were wrongly handed over the question papers of Paper 3 instead of Paper 2 on Friday.

The Calcutta University has postponed the examinations of Paper 2 and has already suspended three employees of the varsity for the incident and has showcaused them. "It is a clear cut instance of sabotage. Prima facie we have taken action against three employees who have been involved in dereliction of duty. We are conducting a probe and if we find involvement of more people, action will be taken against them," Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee, Vice-Chancellor of CU said. The examination started at 10 am but the

students were surprised after they received the question papers. Immediately after the fact came to light, the controller of examinations decided to postpone the examination.

A high-level meeting was held in the university and after preliminary enquiry, it was found that somebody

have deliberately written Paper 3 on the packet containing Paper 2 questions and vice versa.

"We have found out that this is not the fault of the press or any other people but the employees who are responsible for handing over the papers to the invigilator," a senior official of CU said. "We will be dealing strongly with such instances of sabotage or dereliction of duty. If found guilty in the probe, no one will be spared," Banerjee maintained.
