Councillor launches website to address grievances

Kolkata: In a bid to address the grievances of the people of her ward in a faster way, councillor of ward 109 of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Ananya Banerjee has launched her own website www.ananyacare.com.
It is for the first time in the state that a councillor has launched such a website dedicated exclusively to addressing the problems of the people of a particular ward.
"The people of my ward will be able to connect with me on a one-to-one basis. They will be able to access all kinds of information about the area, lodge their complaints, apply for necessary certificates and even share suggestions for improving the civic amenities," Banerjee said.
It may be mentioned that the website has details of all medical facilities with their addresses and contact numbers, schools, colleges, temples and parks of the area.
Ward 109 is the third largest ward in the city in terms of area and stretches around 9.5 square kilometers. It covers the three police station areas of Purba Jadavpur, Survey Park and Panchasayar with a population of more than 63,000.
"It is not possible for the councillor to visit every nook and cranny of her ward physically, on a regular basis. When complaints will come online, we will look into them on a priority basis and solve them accordingly," a close aide of Chatterjee said.
The website also mentions the various activities undertaken by the councillor in her ward.
Chatterjee is now preparing a database of all the people living in her ward, along with their address and contact numbers. She is also in talks with private telecom operators on starting an SMS-based service for prompt grievance redressal.
