Cops to question two senior officials of Apollo today

Police will interrogate two other senior officials of the Apollo Gleneagles Hospital in connection with Sanjay Roy's death.

It was learnt that the police have asked the two senior officials of the rank of DGM to appear before the

investigation team at the Phool Bagan police station on Monday. Sources said that the DGM corporate affairs and the head of HR department have been summoned by the investigating officer for interrogation.

It may be mentioned here that the police have already interrogated the former CEO, Eastern Region of the hospital Rupali Basu and the present CEO Rana Dasgupta in connection with Sanjay Roy's incident. The Chief Operating Officer, Joy Basu was also interrogated in this connection.

Police are trying to ascertain the role of these top officials of the private hospital. The cyber crime department of the city police has also been examining the software of the hospital in order to see the mails that were exchanged between the hospital officials in connection with this particular incident.

Meanwhile, it may be mentioned that police on Sunday interrogated Sanjay's three friends. The investigating officer also recorded their statements.

Police are also comparing and verifying the statements of the senior officials and some doctors and the staff are also being interrogated by the cops who have already found some serious lapses on the part of the private hospital. On the other hand, the state Health department is also carrying out a probe in connection with the death of Sanjay Roy and has submitted an interim report to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

It was alleged that the private hospital did not allow Sanjay Roy to be transferred to SSKM Hospital due to the non-payment of dues. The family members had to deposit a fixed deposit certificate to take the patient to the SSKM Hospital.

It was also found that this private hospital failed to find out an internal injury of the patient despite several clinical tests of the patient. Sanjoy eventually died after being taken to the SSKM Hospital.
