Cops obstructed from entering house of Saumitra Khan's in-laws
Kolkata: With the conflict between Kolkata Police and CBI still going on, state police has been obstructed by Central security personnel from entering the in-laws' house of MP Saumitra Khan.
According to police, officials from Patrasayer police station went to the house of Khan's in-laws at Barjora College Road on Friday night, for a search operation in connection with a corruption case. Before going there police had obtained a search warrant from Bishnupur Court. A Deputy Magistrate and a Deputy Collector had accompanied the police team.
When Khan's wife Sujata was told that her house will be searched, she refused to allow the same. Following this, police showed her the search warrant and also informed that a Deputy Magistrate was present, but she allegedly stood by her decision rigidly. The Central security personnel posted there also obstructed police team and stopped them from entering the house. The team had to back off eventually. Later, they lodged a complaint with Barjora police station in this regard. Sources informed that Khan's name had popped up in a case of corruption regarding sand smuggling, which was lodged at Patrasayer police station.
The MP has denied the charges and alleged that police failed to produce any document regarding their search operation. However, Bankura SP Koteswar Rao has informed that search warrant was there.
