Cops nab woman for supplying ganja to students

Kolkata: The Detective Department (DD) of Kolkata Police has nabbed a woman with around 3 kg of ganja near a school located on AJC Bose Road on Monday afternoon. Later, sleuths came to know that the woman, identified as Munni Das, used supply ganja to school students.

According to police sources, police recently got tipped off about a racket being operated by some people who were

supplying ganja to school students in and around the Taltala area.

Based on the information, the Narcotics Cell of DD started gathering intelligence inputs from their sources.

Taltala area, the racket used

to target several other renowned schools across the city as well.

On Monday, the sleuths came to know from sources that someone would be going to a school located on AJC Bose Road to sell ganja.

Based on the information, police reached the spot in plain clothes and kept a strong vigil in and around the school. In the afternoon, police officers noticed Das with a handheld shopping bag.

After a while, sleuths noticed that Das was trying to approach some school students and was immediately detained. During preliminary search, sleuths found ganja inside her shopping bag.

Without wasting any time, police took her to the Narcotics Cell facility and started interrogating her.

Sources inform that sleuths have got names of some others involved in the racket. Police are also mulling about talking to the schools in this regard to commence counselling of students to avoid getting addicted to drugs. Till Tuesday night, no other accused persons could be traced.
