Cops nab Nigerian footballer with 10 gm cocaine from Hazra

Kolkata: A former Nigerian footballer was arrested with 10 grams of cocaine worth lakhs of rupees by the Narcotics Cell of Kolkata Police on Tuesday.

He used to sell the drug using a Nigerian woman, who was arrested a few days ago.

According to the sources, the accused footballer identified as Emmanuel used to supply cocaine through some of his agents to the customers in Kolkata. During the month of March, this year, Kolkata Police nabbed a Nigerian identified as Kelvin Chinedu with cocaine. He revealed that a Nigerian footballer supplies cocaine in Kolkata but he could not tell the name to the sleuths.

On October 30, the Narcotics Cell of Kolkata Police arrested a young Nigerian woman identified as Okosan Christiana with 25 grams of cocaine on the basis of a tip off from the sources. She was detained from Kolkata Airport.

Later, she was taken to Lalbazar where the sleuths found cocaine concealed in her undergarments. After her arrest, she revealed Emmanuel's name during the interrogation. She said Emmanuel used to supply cocaine using her as delivery person. Since then police were trying to catch him. To trap Emmanuel, police personnel called him posing as a buyer of cocaine. He was called near Hazra crossing.

On Tuesday, on reaching the spot he was apprehended. Later, during the interrogation he admitted to have sold cocaine to the Nigerian footballers here. The sleuths have managed to get hold of a list of footballers, who are allegedly Emmanuel's customers. Sources informed that Emmanuel had played for the Port Trust football team during 2009. In the year 2014, he signed with Guwahati Football Club. Later, he left playing and became a football coach. At present, he is engaged as a football coach in a school

in Guwahati.
