Cops call up 15 persons for spreading rumours

Kolkata: Kolkata Police on Thursday called 15 persons at Lalbazar and warned them for allegedly circulating messages which are not true and spreading panic among the citizens.

According to police, earlier several such people were warned over phone and also called at Lalbazar. On Wednesday, 12 persons were called and warned. They were told that if they are found circulating any other fake information and news which may create panic, they will face legal consequences. On Thursday, the 15 persons were also conveyed the same message and allowed to leave.

Sources claimed that the people who were called were found to hail from good families. Most of them admitted that they did not try to find out whether the information was true or false.
