Cong MP Mausum Noor advocates alliance with TMC

Kolkata: Partha Chatterjee, Trinamool Congress secretary general, said on Thursday that Congress MP Mausam Noor should convince WBPCC president about the grand alliance before 2019 Lok Sabha polls before talking to the Trinamool Congress.

Talking to newsmen, Chatterjee said while Mausam Noor was talking about alliance with the Trinamool Congress, the WBPCC chief is interested in joining hands with the CPI(M). "Congress and CPI(M) are there to give oxygen to the BJP," he remarked.

Noor said on Thursday that the Congress should support the TMC to oust the saffron party from the Centre.

Noor's statement contradicts the views of Somen Mitra, WBPCC president, who said that the Congress should form an alliance with the CPI(M). CPI(M) state secretary Suryakanta Misra has also added that the party will ask its voters to vote for Congress candidates where the party will not have any candidate.

Chatterjee said Noor should convince her president first before making such statements. He alleged that both CPI(M) and Congress are helping BJP against the Trinamool in Bengal.

"Our leader Mamata Banerjee has said over and again about the clandestine alliance between the three parties. These parties are against the development work that is being carried out by Mamata Banerjee government and are trying to stall them."

He said in 2016 before the Assembly elections, Congress and CPI(M) had alliance and the people did not accept it. "But again they are trying to form an alliance in Bengal against the Trinamool and thus, trying to help BJP through the back door," he said adding that the TMC is the only secular party in the country that respects the sentiments and feelings of all religions.
