Cold spell returns to city; temp likely to remain below 12OC
Kolkata: The chill spell is back in the city accompanied by an uninterrupted flow of the north-westerly dragging the temperature below 12 degree Celsius once again.
According to the predictions by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore, the temperature may remain below 12 degree Celsius for the next few days in the city and its adjoining districts.
"The city dwellers are expected to witness another cold spell for the next couple of days as mercury is dipping due to the unhindered flow of the north-westerly. It may be presumed as the last cold spell of this winter," a senior official of the Met office said.
The city on Friday woke up to a breezy morning with people snuggling in cozy warm clothes. As per the Alipore Met office, a low pressure trough formed over Bihar has been injecting moisture into the state, thereby contributing to the chill factor in various South Bengal districts including the city.
The temperature dipped on Thursday going slightly below 12 degree Celsius. However, there are no chances of rainfall in days to come despite the low pressure over Bihar, a weather official said.
Though the temperature may again start to climb up after the cold spell is gone, the city doctors have warned people to be cautious of this sudden rise and fall in temperatures.
